Mike Volpe, otherwise known as Volpeman, is a character that has appeared in both feature-length movies that take place within the “Sun Valley Universe.” He first appeared in “Christian” as Mitch and Nate’s lovable loser lackey who followed them around the halls of Sun Valley High School. After an accident in the lunchroom and some time in the nurse’s office, Mike begins to discover that he has a special super power: the power to be instantly better than any person. Mitch and Nate begin to abuse this power, taking revenge on all those in the school that tortured them due to their nerd status. Later, Dash Lightning dupes Mitch and Nate into letting him use Volpeman’s powers for his own means.

After Christian, Volpeman disappeared for a while but made a quick cameo in Opaque, hanging out at Randy and Kiera’s house along with Mitch and Nate. By this time, he’s wearing a cape.

Volpeman’s only relationship has been an unseen girl named Staci, In both Christian and Opaque, Mitch and Nate ridicule Volpeman for his Internet girlfriend.

Volpeman will make another cameo appearance in the short film sequel to Christian, Virginity Not Guaranteed. He will be featured more prominently in the upcoming feature-length movie, Killinger: The Life of an RA. In this film, he has gone on to college with Mitch and Nate to live with them in the dorms. This film will also finally introduce his girlfriend, Staci.

Plot Summary: Christian chronicles a day in the life of Adam Hess (Bryan Trout), an overzealous but devout Christian who is a senior at Sun Valley High School. When he finds out that one of his best friends, the free-spirited Jess Peterson (Julie Murphy), experienced her own rite of passage over the weekend with her boyfriend Nick Connor (Mike DeMaio), he throws a fit, spending the entire school day complaining to his other best friend, Wayne Powers (Will Ball). As this is going on, down-on-their-luck nerds Mitch (Mitch Donaberger), Nate, (Nate Walsh) and Mike Volpe (Mike Volpe) must contend with their own issues of social hierarchy as they are enlisted and manipulated by Dash Lightning (Dan Brechbiel), the most popular guy in school.

Bryan Trout

Bryan Trout has been with Philagape Productions since its inception in 2004. He has had the pleasure of playing our first leading man, the overzealous and angsty Adam Hess in Christian, while he was a senior at Sun Valley High School in Aston, PA.

While filming Christian, Bryan was also performing as Danny in Sun Valley Drama Club’s production of “Grease”, as well as directing and starring in his own short film for a creative writing course. A year prior, Bryan took on the memorable role of Mr. Mushnik in Sun Valley Drama Club’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

In June 2004, Bryan graduated from Sun Valley High School along with his Christian co-stars Julie Murphy, Dan Brechbiel and Mike Volpe, as well as writer/director/producer Chris Pierdomenico. In October 2005, he went on to study acting in New York and then LA, as well as act in several independent feature films. However, before he left, he made a memorable cameo in our second feature-length movie, Opaque, as Kiera Morris’s shallow and easily annoyed boyfriend, Matt.

Now back in Pennsylvania, Bryan has just wrapped up starring in Philagape’s latest short film, The Lame Shall Enter First, based on the short story written by Flannery O’Connor in the 1960’s. Bryan portrayed Sheppard Dawkins, a 30-something good samaritan social worker that was more focused on helping the city’s suffering youth than paying attention to his own son.

Later in 2008, Bryan will have a role in Philagape’s third feature-length movie, “RA.” He will also reprise the character of Adam Hess in the short film “Virginity Not Guaranteed.” At some point between 2010 and 2011, Bryan will reprise Adam Hess for a third time in the full-length sequel to the original Christian movie, which for the time being is just being called “Christian 2.”
